An international road haulage company needed a quick solution to operating losses generated by one of its regional offices. After the process mapping phase, two factors affecting these losses were identified; high rate of empty kilometres and no clear-cut procedure for the allocation of orders to lorries.

A mathematical algorithm was designed to deal with this situation and later on a software application was developed so that the algorithm could easily do the job.

The result was a change to a profit situation after just one month.
