RECOMMENDATIONS FOR TELEWORKING

Due to the social and health situation we have been experiencing in recent weeks, most Spanish companies have adopted teleworking or mandatory remote working, following the instructions of the country's authorities.

Although we at BRAINTRUST are already familiar with this way of working, given that we will now be in this situation for an extended period of time, we would like to make some recommendations to make both teleworking and home confinement more bearable.

And since we are not experts on the subject, we have compiled some tips that you have probably already read in numerous articles, websites, etc.

THE POWER OF BELIEF

EVEN IN TIMES OF CRISIS

• EVEN IF IT SEEMS UNBELIEVABLE... DRESS APPROPRIATELY

Get dressed. Don't stay in your pajamas, robe, tracksuit, or similar attire all day. This will put your brain into productive mode. Because none of us go to the office like that... right?

CREATE A COMFORTABLE WORKSPACE THAT ADAPTS TO YOUR NEEDS

It is not advisable to use your bed or sofa in front of the television; please take care of your back. It is essential to keep leisure and work spaces in the home separate and well defined, whenever possible.

Z

Establish a routine and prepare your workspace in advance.

If the space resembles an office, it will be easier for you to adapt to teleworking. If possible, let natural light in and remove any objects that may distract you.

SET A WORK SCHEDULE

It is important because it lets everyone know when someone will be online, increasing productivity.

TAKE REGULAR BREAKS

It is important to take advantage of the free time saved by not having to commute to work.

STAY IN TOUCH WITH YOUR COLLEAGUES

This aspect is important and perhaps one of the easiest to achieve. There are many easy-to-use tools available (MS Skype/MS Team, Google Hangouts/Meet, Zoom, even WhatsApp, etc.). Don't isolate yourself. Personal relationships are crucial for maintaining perspective and avoiding stressful situations.

HIGHLIGHT THE MOST IMPORTANT TASKS AND PRIORITIZE THEM... AND DON'T LOSE MOTIVATION

Having to stay at home should not be a source of frustration, nor should it be a source ofextraordinarymotivation. It should be a circumstance that leads us to make decisions about what to do and what is most important to accomplish.

.

MAKE BACKUP COPIES ON A REGULAR BASIS

Save your work from time to time, and keep a copy. You can never be too careful. We don't want to add to this unusual situation by having to work twice as hard.

AVOID DISTRACTIONS

Set aside time for reading emails, personal phone calls, using social media, reading blogs, using WhatsApp, etc.

U

MAINTAIN SAFETY MEASURES AGAINST CORONAVIRUS

Follow the preventive measures against #coronavirus recommended by health and local authorities. Be cautious, do not leave home unless absolutely necessary, such as to go shopping...

ASK FOR SUPPORT FROM THOSE WHO LIVE WITH YOU

Having the support of those who live with us: The family must contribute to respecting spaces, not disturbing others, and collaborating during the designated teleworking hours.

.

... AND DON'T LEAD A SEDENTARY LIFESTYLE!

As far as possible for each of us... try to do some exercise at home. You can walk (try to reach at least 4,000 steps a day, given the situation), but if not... there are exercises scattered around the internet for these cases. We want you to be as healthy as an apple!
