AEGVE, the Spanish Association of Corporate Travel Managers, and BRAINTRUST, a consulting and professional services firm in the travel industry, have just announced the signing of their strategic alliance, in which they commit to working together to evolve, optimize, and professionalize corporate mobility management in Spanish companies. Their areas of work will include information, training, and strategic consulting, as well as networking, experiences, and best practices, with a view to developing a key sector in our country's economic model, where traveling more consciously and efficiently will be the main priority.
Business travel consulting, key to a more sustainable and digital future
The current context following the COVID-19 pandemic, and in a market that is gradually recovering, highlights the need for a new transformation of business travel, whose future will be marked by sustainability and digitalization.
The business travel sector remains a fragmented ecosystem, where processes need greater integration from a 360º perspective, and where all stakeholders must work together toward a common goal: stimulating the economy through business activity, promoting more conscious and efficient travel.
In this sense, travel consulting in its broadest sense becomes a round table for joint work between all actors in the value chain, putting their analysis and research with a business vision at the service of the entire business travel environment.
According to Juanma Fernández, President of AEGVE: "At AEGVE, we continue to increase value for our members and partners in our mission to inform, educate, and train the entire business travel ecosystem. In this mission, it is a pleasure to have the collaboration of BRAINTRUST, a leading tourism consulting firm. In a post-pandemic era and with the goal of a new business travel, we need to work together to achieve our objectives, and no one better than BRAINTRUST can help us with their knowledge, experience, and skills in managing and optimizing business travel in a new era. We have many challenges ahead of us that we will be able to tackle and resolve if we work together for the benefit of all, pursuing a more sustainable, innovative, and profitable sector. We are confident that this collaboration will be a success and will bring us added value as the leading association in Spain, both for our members and our partners.
A VUCA environment requires collaboration between all stakeholders to strengthen the business travel industry.
Business travel (and MICE) has been one of the sectors hardest hit during the pandemic due to mobility restrictions and limited social interaction, although it has also proven to be smart, taking advantage of this period to reflect on weaknesses and relevant solutions to address an increasingly uncertain and unpredictable future.
Other black swans will continue to appear, such as the current conflict in Ukraine or the current inflationary scenario caused by socioeconomic imbalances and geopolitical instability, exposing the inconsistencies of a model that lacks collaboration. From now on, it will be essential to build a different industry that is stronger, more robust, and more resilient.
The Travel Manager: a role that will increase in value in the future
In this process, the role of Travel Managers will be critical, elevating their function to a more strategic and important level within companies:
- Ensure the safety, productivity, and comfort of travelers.
- Ensure the essential nature, efficiency, and profitability of travel for your companies' business.
- Protecting the environment, committing to the sustainability of the planet.
For Angel García Butragueño, Director of Tourism at BRAINTRUST and expert in business travel transformation: "The agreement with AEGVE is a privilege for us and another step forward in our journey to help the industry evolve with a focus on more conscious and sustainable business travel; The new keys will be People, Profit & Planet. At BRAINTRUST, we will put all our knowledge, experience, and capabilities at the service of AEGVE's members and partners in an increasingly volatile and unpredictable environment, where the speed and flexibility of business decisions based on data interpretation become a fundamental element in their role as drivers of corporate mobility. The new mission of business travel is to be the primary communication tool for companies to interact and do business with each other, based on criteria of efficiency, safety, sustainability, and profitability for all parties.
