Luxury travellers are the most willing to purchase travel with a travel spending forecast index of 75.7.
The average budget for each trip in 2020 will be between €1,000 and €3,000, an increase of 15.6%.
Spending unforgettable moments with loved ones and disconnecting from routine are the main motivations for Spanish luxury tourists to travel.
International travel motivated by the discovery of a country
Interest in seeing a new place will be the main reason why luxury travellers will choose a holiday destination in 2020, followed by the recommendation of friends or family, which influences this choice for 40% of travellers.
Following the trend set in 2019, where Luxury travellers made the most international trips, Europe (visited by 29% of luxury tourists in 2019) will be the most chosen destination.
With a forecast of 2.5 destinations, the European countries most expected to be visited by luxury travellers this year are Italy (33%), France (26%) and the United Kingdom (18%).
Other international destinations that Spanish luxury tourists expect to visit are the United States, with 21%, and Japan with 14%.
Focusing on Spain, luxury travellers plan to visit an average of 1.2 destinations, with Extremadura, Castilla y León and the Balearic Islands being the regions they plan to visit the most in a short period of time.

Data suggests that Spanish luxury travellers expect to explore several destinations in the same trip by 2020, even on shorter trips. Their desire is to discover the true nature of each destination, living unique and exclusive experiences that allow them to enjoy their true passions, (gastronomy, shopping, wellness experiences or cultural visits) but being part of the local culture. Immersive trips that allow them to connect with the local culture where the experience prevails over the price.
The use of exclusive services, where they are offered personalised and tailor-made treatment, will also continue to rise. Quality, exclusivity and personalisation are the attributes that these travellers associate most with their luxury trips.
