Luxury travelers are the most willing to purchase trips, with a travel consumption forecast index of 75.7.

The average budget allocated to each trip in 2020 is between €1,000 and €3,000, representing an increase of 15.6%.

Spending unforgettable moments with loved ones and disconnecting from routine are the main motivations for travel among Spanish luxury tourists.

International travel motivated by discovering a country
The desire to discover new places will be the main reason why luxury travelers choose their vacation destinations in 2020, followed by recommendations from friends or family, which influence the choice of 40% of travelers.
Following the trend set in 2019, when luxury travelers made the most international trips, Europe (visited by 29% of luxury tourists in 2019) will be the most popular destination.
With a forecast of 2.5 destinations, the European countries that luxury travelers most hope to visit this year are Italy (33%), France (26%), and the United Kingdom (18%).

Other international destinations that Spanish luxury tourists hope to visit are the United States, with 21%, and Japan with 14%.
Focusing on Spain, luxury travelers plan to visit an average of 1.2 destinations, with Extremadura, Castile and León, and the Balearic Islands being the regions they most plan to visit in a short period of time.

The data suggests that Spanish luxury travelers expect to explore several destinations in a single trip by 2020, even on shorter trips. Their desire is to discover the true nature of each destination, enjoying unique and exclusive experiences that allow them to indulge in their true passions (gastronomy, shopping, wellness experiences, or cultural visits) while becoming part of the local culture. Immersive trips that allow them to connect with the local culture, where the experience prevails over the price.
The use of exclusive services, where they are offered personalized and tailor-made treatment, will also continue to rise. Quality, exclusivity, and personalization are the attributes that these travelers most associate with their luxury trips.
