BRAINTRUST receives Brain-Protected Space certification from the Freno al Ictus Foundation

December 13, 2022. BRAINTRUSThas been certified as a "Brain-Protected Space" by theFreno al ICTUS Foundation for implementing this online training for more than 33% of its staff in Madrid, which enables them to identify, stabilize, and act in the event of a stroke at their workplace or in their family and social environment.

The president of the Foundation, Julio Agredano, emphasizes that "with this initiative, the Foundation aims to ensure that companies, in addition to training their employees to act internally, also train them to identify a stroke and know how to act in their environment. Time is of the essence in the event of a stroke, and one of the keys to successful treatment of this disease is the speed with which the initial symptoms are detected and the emergency services are contacted. Eighty percent of people who receive treatment within the first four hours have no lasting effects, or if they do, these are moderate."

Immediate identification of these symptoms is crucial in the patient's progress, as it has been shown that mortality and disability caused by the sequelae of the disease are reduced in patients treated from the outset.

This certification highlights the importance of taking action in the event of a possible stroke, should a colleague, customer, or family member show symptoms of this cerebrovascular disease. The goal is to save lives and prevent complications, which is achieved by immediately activating the "Stroke Code" protocol through the 112 emergency service.

For his part, Jose Luis Ruiz, partner at BRAINTRUST, points out that although the average age of our staff is young, this does not mean we should ignore this interesting initiative by the Freno al ICTUS Foundation. Thanks to the training received, the whole company is now aware of the problem and knows how to respond to a stroke both in our work environment and in our family and personal lives.

Let's remember that stroke is a cerebrovascular disease that affects more than 120,000 people every year in Spain. It is the leading cause of death in women, the second leading cause of death globally, and the leading cause of disability in adults. The good news is that 90% of cases can be prevented.

"Brain-protected space" is a certification obtained through online training that aims to reach companies with a highly geographically dispersed workforce. The training content has been developed in collaboration with the Spanish Society of Neurology (SEN) through its Cerebrovascular Diseases Study Group (GEECV) and is part of the "Brain Caring People" project, endorsed by the scientific society itself and supported by the Spanish Association of Occupational Medicine Specialists (AEEMT) and the Spanish Association of Occupational Prevention Services (AESPLA).
